Job Title: Senior Accountant
Location: Hybrid Remote – Petersfield, GU32 2BY
Salary: £35,000 to £55,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Job Type: Full time (37.5 hours per week)
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Senior Accountant/ Client Manager to take the next step in their career within a dynamic and fast-growing accountancy practice based in the picturesque town of Petersfield, nestled in the South Downs National Park.
This is a key position, offering the successful candidate the chance to work closely with owner-managed businesses across the South of England, upholding our commitment to delivering client-first service. We are looking for a proactive and skilled individual with previous experience in a similar practice environment, providing a comprehensive range of accountancy services such as limited company accounts, bookkeeping, VAT, personal tax returns, and payroll. The successful candidate will be their portfolio of client’s businesses main point of contact when handling queries and problems. Offering more efficient solutions to their companies processes offering a stellar level of customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for preparing full year-end accounts for a range of limited companies, sole traders and partnerships around the Southeast.
- Preparation, review, and submission of company tax returns.
- Preparation of management accounts, budgets, and financial forecasts.
- Identifying potential issues during client assignments and escalating them as required.
- Ensuring all assignments are completed within budget and on time.
- Managing client compliance deadlines.
- Staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the field to provide high-quality service.
- Maintaining Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as required by your professional body.
- Mentoring and reviewing the work of junior team members.
- Direct communication with clients to address queries and concerns.
Skills & Experience:
- ACA, ACCA, or AAT qualified
- Experience with payroll processing.
- A strong understanding of accounting principles and concepts, gained from relevant work experience.
- Experience using SME cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or FreeAgent.
- A self-motivated, enthusiastic, and proactive individual eager to grow and develop.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A commercial mindset, with a focus on client service, billing, and budget management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
